Latest Vet Appointment & Vertical Eating

Vertical eating you ask? Yes, that's right...it's not a circus trick..it's how Luke is eating his meals these days. Yesterday we took Luke back to the vet for his booster shots/additional vaccinations. We also discussed with our wonderful vet his (Luke's, that is) continued itching and an issue he's been having with regurgitating/small vomits ever since he arrived. Originally the vet thought the "up chucking" was caused by the anti yeast meds he was taking which can cause a sour stomach. Unfortunately, it appears not to be the case. So we are having his chest/esophagus x-ray'd tomorrow to help confirm or deny the doctors suspicion that he is having trouble getting food all the way down to his tummy-which is resulting in regurgitation. In the meantime, he is following doctors orders and eating while standing. :)

The exciting news is that in just 2 meals time-it seems to be helping! Yay! But we're doing the x-ray to be sure.

We also got some cortisone cream to rub on his underside area to help with the itching. And that also seems to be helping today-so good news all around for our favorite little guy in the world.

Sun bathing on the Deck

While we did yard work this weekend Luke enjoyed the sun on the deck and was a very good listener to "stay on the deck" while the mower was running.

Then he enjoyed lot's of ball chasing in the freshly cut grass!

Luke and his office friend "river" played a very nice game of tug-o-war on Friday. River was especially kind to let Luke feel as equally strong regardless of his size :)

Luke's "Re-Check" Vet Appointment

His check up went well! His skin is healing and we are able to lower the dose on the remaining medications he has. Now it will be all about waiting and seeing if his skin issues are totally food related or if there are environmental reasons. But, all in all he is doing fantastic and a lot of the credit goes to the immediate excellent medical care he got from the rescue group (North West International Pet Rescue). We're just bringin' it on home... so to speak.

After our vet left the exam room Luke climbed up to give me what certainly felt like a "thank you mamas" hug.

Morning Bundle on the couch

Things are going great with Luke. We are all really into a rhythm and it feels like he's lived with us for years quite honestly.

Last night we were very excited to meet up with Kristin and Sam at the neighborhood pub that allows dogs! So much fun!! Luke was in HEAVEN seeing all those dogs--and he was a very good boy the whole time. :)

Bath Night!

Last night was bath night for Luke. He needs to be bathed with medicated shampoo every 3 days to help clear up his skin issues (which are healing well!). He is very good about the bathing-very patient..and yes, very cute in the tub. :)

But it looks like "blue"might be his favorite...maybe because there are so many "squeakies" to "kill" in it! He loves to chase it down the hall and bring back for more! Such a good fetcher he is!

Luckily we picked up this handsome puff jacket for the little guy to wear on chilly walks. And it was chilly this morning!

DAY 2

Another great night with Luke!

We picked up a "puppy pen" on the way home and made sure he spent some time in it so the cats could come out and investigate him freely. It worked well! As you can see, winnie, did a "drive by" cautiously -but that's exactly what we hoped for!

Sam even came out for lap time on the couch. He kept a close eye on the funny animal in the corner-but this is also a great sign!
